This Was The Last Straw In Getting Me To Play Fortnite

I did it. I finally actually did it. The year is 2025, the world is a mess, morale is at an all-time low, and I bought V-Bucks in Fortnite.

I never played much Fortnite. I tried it out in its early days, plus when it launched on Nintendo Switch, and then I played a bit more when Lego Fortnite dropped, but I didn’t stick with it at any point. I was also one of those people who would laugh at the mere thought of Fortnite, thinking it was below me or whatever nonsense I convinced myself of.

I since stopped caring – something not enough gamers stop doing about, well, anything – and just let people enjoy it while I played whatever I wanted to play. How noble, I know, but here’s the thing: I’ve been pulled into Fortnite now, and all it took was an Adventure Time bundle.

What Time Is It? No, Seriously, I’ve Been Playing For Hours

Finn in Adventure Time

As I loaded up the game to take a peek at the store, excited to see what Adventure Time items I could get, I was overjoyed. Finn, Jake, Bubblegum, and Marceline are the unlockable characters, while there are several pickaxe skins, backpacks, emotes, and a Jake glider. The majority are included in a bundle, while others are separate purchases. And so I began to ponder.

Which ones should I buy? I know I want to play as Finn, so maybe I don’t need every character in the bundle. How could I resist a BMO backpack? But then, is that the Jake bug dance emote? I began to look at V-Bucks pricing, calculating what I really wanted to buy and how much I could get away with while minimising the amount I actually spent.

And then I spent like £40 to get all of it.

Land Of Ooo? More Like Land Of Oops I Spent Too Much Money

Sure, I could have had some self-control, but I’m only human… Finn the human, to be precise.

Do I regret it? Absolutely not. But I am playing a lot of Fortnite now. Yes, it’s a lot of fun, but I also need to get my money’s worth, so I’ve been running, sliding, and shooting my way up to level 60 (so far), and I’m sure as Grob Gob Glob Grod not going to stop any time soon.

It feels like I finally get Fortnite, you know? Like, I’ve always seen it from the outside, and even when I’d convince myself it was stupid, I’d see the wide range of characters and the huge events that go on, and it would look so cool for the people taking part.

There have been characters I’d have probably been interested in previously, but Adventure Time is a special show to me, and I didn’t want to let this opportunity pass me by. This time, I’m diving in, and I want to be able to jump back in freely to take part in any other timely adventures, fighting alongside Sabrina Carpenters and Narutos. Video games are supposed to be fun, and this… this is fun.
