Oblivion Remastered Is The First Time All The Game’s DLC Has Been Available On PlayStation

Summary

  • The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered includes all the original game’s DLC.
  • That means that PlayStation players can finally explore Frostcrag Spire, Deepscorn Hollow, and the Thieves’ Den, which (along with five other DLC packs) were originally Xbox and PC exclusive.
  • You don’t need the Deluxe Edition to access the DLC, either.

If you’ve only ever played Oblivion on PS3, you won’t have experienced everything the game has to offer. While it did include Knights of the Nine (and Shivering Isles if you owned the GOTY version), the eight other DLC packs were Xbox and PC exclusive.

That means, if you were on PlayStation, you’d have missed out on:

  • The infamous Horse Armour pack;
  • Orrery, a quest in which you help the Mages Guild repair an ancient dwemer machine;
  • A fan-favourite player home, the Wizard’s Tower (ie Frostcrag Spire);
  • Thieves’ Den, a player home nestled within Dunbarrow Cove that includes a pirate ship called The Red Sabre;
  • Mehrunes’ Razor (which returned in Skyrim), rewarded for completing a new dungeon;
  • Vile Lair, a player home for more villainous characters earned by undertaking the Deepscorn Hollow quest (also featured in ESO);
  • Spell Tomes, which does exactly what you’d expect, adding new spells to the loot pool;
  • And Fighter’s Stronghold, in which you must fend off bandits to become lord of Battlehorn Castle, another player home.

All of these, and the more involved Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions, are included in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, meaning that, for the first time in 18 years, PlayStation players have access to all the game’s DLC, making this the most complete version of the game on Sony’s platform.

You Don’t Need The Deluxe Edition, EitherA character balancing a staff on their hand in Oblivion Remastered

Thankfully, all the DLC is included in the base version of Oblivion Remastered, so you don’t need to pay the £10 hike for the Deluxe Edition to access these additional packs. That means if you venture to Bruma right after leaving the sewers, you can set up shop in Frostcrag Spire, one of the best player homes in the series.

The Deluxe Edition does come with new quests, however, that reward you with Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon-themed armour sets, weapons, and even horse armour. All of which was designed specifically for the remake.

So, everything that was in the original Oblivion and its many DLC packs is included in the base version of Remastered, which means that there’s a bunch of new content for PlayStation players to dig their teeth into, even after nearly two decades.
