You Can Now Clap For Mordin’s Song In Mass Effect 2, Thanks To Fans

Summary

  • Mordin Solus is a fan-favourite Mass Effect character.
  • A mod now exists where Shepard can participate in one of the character’s most iconic scenes.
  • It does remove a charming awkward silence, though.

Who doesn’t love Mordin Solus? The genius salarian geneticist initially seems standoffish and aloof, but it doesn’t take long for him to show his whimsical side, worming his way into the hearts of many a Mass Effect player.

Everyone trilogy player knows Mordin’s most iconic scene, which takes place atop the Shroud on Tuchanka. I’d argue his second-most iconic scene takes place aboard the Normandy SR-2, where he regales Shepard with a rendition of his legendary scientist salarian song.

Golf Clap

The moment is made all the greater by the complete lack of backing music and the awkward silence between Shepard and Mordin afterwards. However, you can now fill that silence thanks to the hard work of Orikon, a Mass Effect enthusiast.

I am the very model of a scientist salarian, I’ve studied species, turian, asari and batarian.

I’m quite good at genetics as a subset of biology, because I am an expert, which I know is a tautology.

My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian, I am the very model of a scientist salarian.

In response to a user on X (formerly Twitter), who suggested there should be a paragon interrupt at the end of Mordin’s performance, where Shepard “politely yet earnestly” claps for the rendition, Orikon decided to make this a reality with a new mod.

Instead of looking dead-eyed at Mordin as he relishes his wonderful performance, Shepard can now use a paragon interrupt to clap somewhat awkwardly at the performance. Mordin will not acknowledge the praise, but you’ll feel better knowing you didn’t leave your favourite salarian hanging.

BioWare is currently working on an unnamed Mass Effect game, commonly referred to as Mass Effect 5. Information regarding the title has been scarce, but we know that it probably features fan-favourite Liara T’Soni. The studio recently posted job listings for roles working on Mass Effect 5.
