Summary
- Avowed’s latest update makes improvements to the in-game map, the party camp, and accessibility.
- The next update drops this summer, giving us new combat abilities, weapons, and more.
- New game plus and the ability to customise your character anywhere are coming in a winter update.
Avowed got an update yesterday, rolling out some improvements. It also added an Arachnophobia safe mode, which removes spider-like creatures from the game. However, this is far from the only new feature we’re getting, as Obsidian is promising a bunch of additions to Avowed over the year.
These new features will include a photo mode, new game plus, and at long last, the ability to change our character’s appearance after the start of the game. Those three features will all be included in the winter update, but there will be some more coming in a summer update before that.
Avowed Has A Roadmap, Promising New Game Plus And Character Customisation
“This new graphic gives a sneak peek at some of the content and improvements coming to Avowed in the near future,” reads a blog post from Obsidian. “We hope it gives you a clearer picture of what we’re working on – and what you can look forward to next.”
The next update will be with us in the summer, introducing new abilities for our characters and companions, new weapons, cooking and crafting improvements, and custom map markers. We have to wait until winter to get the larger features, although some would have hoped that things like new game plus and character customisation would have been in from launch.
Mid-game character customisation will also come with new Godlike features, if you couldn’t find one that suited you at launch. There will also be more presets to play around with.
While it is frustrating that we’ll have to wait a while for some of the most exciting new features, this does at least show that Obsidian is committed to taking in feedback from fans. So far, there’s no hint of the expansions that some were expecting when Obsidian promised a roadmap, but since The Outer Worlds got DLC, we can’t rule that out for Avowed just yet.
