Insider Claims Multiple Fallout Games Are In The Works, Including “The One You’re All Wanting”

It’s been a decade since the last mainline Fallout game, and while there are murmurs of an Oblivion-style remaster for Fallout 3, there’s no word from Bethesda on the future of the series. All eyes are on The Elder Scrolls 6, right now.

That being said, VGC reporter Jordan Middler claimed on the Skill Up podcast that “there are multiple Fallout projects in development, including that one you’re all wanting”. While he didn’t go into detail on what it might be, fans have been calling on Bethesda to let Obsidian take the reigns with a new game for years now. It’s unlikely to be a literal New Vegas 2, given that the TV series is primed to explore the Mojave next season, but perhaps we’re due another West Coast game.

Obsidian said in 2023 that it would “love” to make a new Fallout, but stressed that it didn’t have one in development at the time. Granted, it’s about to release the last of its announced projects with Grounded 2 and The Outer Worlds 2, after having just launched Avowed earlier this year. So, maybe one of its next projects is a Fallout spin-off. Then again, Middler could be referring to Fallout 3, but it’s an open secret at this point, so it’d be weird to tip-toe around it.

Don’t Expect A New Fallout Game Anytime Soon, Though

While multiple Fallout games might be exciting news, especially since the last one—Fallout 76—launched in 2018, it’s still worth tempering expectations. Middler stated that the project “you’re all wanting” isn’t far enough along in development that he can promise you’ll be playing it anytime soon.

A hypothetical Obsidian game would certainly makes sense. If it wasn’t working on a Fallout spin-off in 2023, then it could have started production on one in 2024 or sometime this year after the success of the TV series. In that case, it would be in the very early stages of development, lining up with what Middler said. However, insiders also claimed in April that “it’ll be a while” before we see the Fallout 3 remaster, so maybe that’s the game Middler is talking about after all.

He also joked,” Anyway, New Vegas 2, coming soon”.

Again, this is all entirely speculation. The only thing that Middler ever claimed is that multiple projects are in the works. What those might be, and when they’ll launch, is anyone’s guess right now.
