The Mystery Of The Soulless Army?

Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army offers plenty of ways to gain some experience – fighting the demons that pop up as you’re exploring the Dark Realm to progress the story, choosing to go back in for combat, and more – but one of the best ways to grind is at the Training Hall.

Ready for these creepy little guys to fight by your side?

You’ll unlock the Training Hall in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army a few chapters into the story, and it’s where you’ll not only grind for EXP between missions, but you’ll also find plenty of strong new demons and some sought-after collectibles.

Where Can You Find The Training Hall?

Nameless Shrine Training Hall Entrance

The Training Hall in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army isn’t available right away, so no shot at hopping in there to make yourself OP for the first few chapters of the game! The Herald of Yatagarasu grants you access to the Training Hall at the beginning of the fourth episode, and if you’ve not gone there yet, you’ll be made to go for the first time in Episode Five.

To enter the Training Hall for the first time, you’ll want to go to the Nameless Shrine in Shinoda via the express streetcar, and then interact with the fountain in front of the shrine itself, just to the right of the staircase past the right inari statue. Interact with it to be brought down into the Training Hall, an optional labyrinth that offers a progressively more difficult place to farm EXP when you’re feeling a little under-prepared for the battles you’re up against lately.

Entering the Training Hall from the Nameless Shrine brings you onto floor B1, and you’ll see yourself in a square area full of demons, all centered around a large pillar of an elevator in the middle. If you were to divide the map into a three-by-three grid like a tic-tac-toe board, the elevator would be in the middle-most section with ample space for running around looking for demons to battle around the peripheral grid sections.

In all, you’ll find ten floors in the Training Hall, which seem to mostly correlate with Raidou’s current level. If you dare try to inch too far ahead of a level the game feels confident you can beat, you’ll be turned around by a mysterious voice before too long. With the floors numbered B1, B2, and so on, you can find a comfortable spot for your current level by moving down one floor for every ten levels you’ve earned so far in the game. For example, players at level 35 will be evenly matched on B3, while players at level 45 should head for B4 instead.

Like other locations in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, once you’ve entered the Training Hall for the first time, you can then reach it again by express streetcar to save time.

Other Training Hall Entrances

Once you’ve gained the ability to sail on the waters after a negotiation with Big Tarrasque in Episode Five, you’ll have access to the blue dots on your overworld map that had previously been inaccessible. With the Flute of Rhone, though, Raidou is able to call Big Tarrasque for a ride anytime he reaches one of these blue ports. It’s by riding on Big Tarrasque that you can find:

  • Training Hall East
  • Training Hall South
  • Training Hall West

You’ll need more combat experience than you’ve got in Episode Five to brave these areas, though, so it’s not a bad idea to reach them whenever you’re able to and unlock them for express streetcar travel later once you’ve leveled up a bit.

Raidou Kuzunoha XIV is back again to deal with the Soulless Army – how long will it take you this time around?

Farm Experience In Combat Or Quick Battles

If you’ve played a Shin Megami Tensei game before, you’ll be familiar with areas full of demons that spawn periodically to offer Raidou a chance to opt into combat to farm experience. There’s nothing wrong with fighting the devils you see during story missions to the Dark Realm – in fact, they’re usually around the level you should be at that point as well and can readily be used in fusions – but if you’re looking to beef up your combat skills a bit, the Training Hall is always open.

Like your level should scale with the floor you’re exploring, you’ll find that demons get tougher the deeper you go into the Training Hall in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. They’ll be roughly on par with the level you should be when you’re exploring the floor in question, so if you’re looking for an evenly-matched combat challenge, head to the floor that corresponds with your current level.

When you’re evenly matched, Raidou will be brought into combat as normal, and you’ll have the opportunity to not only grind for experience, but to practice new combat techniques before attempting to bring them into your main story investigation. If you’ve fused a new demon recently, or unlocked a new skill from a Sword Alchemy fusion, the Training Hall is a good way to perfect your new strategies without wasting time in the main story. With so much EXP, loot, and yen on the line, it’s never a bad idea to enter battle yourself – it’s the way to get the most EXP per battle.

That said, there’s also merit to moving back up a floor to quick-battle lower-level demons to farm experience, if you’ve got the patience to summon your most powerful familiar to follow Raidou around the Training Hall and do a few laps around the basement floors. If your demon is notably more powerful than the demon you’re attacking in your exploration, your demon can kill these devils immediately.

The game won’t make you fight them, either – it simply gives rewards like materials, yen, and experience points for Raidou and the team. Granted, this strategy does yield less EXP than fighting an evenly-matched demon would, but it’s also faster than manually entering combat and fighting with your demons to slay group after group of opposing devils.

Doing this with a demon that knows a Passive Skill like Scavenger can also collect plenty of additional free items as they follow Raidou in circles around the Training Hall quick-battling enemies.

Confine New Demons And Collect Priceless Loot

A voice calling out in the training hall in Raidou Remastered The Mystery of the Soulless Army.

While you’ve been exploring the Dark Realm, you’ll no doubt have seen the large crystals that occasionally appear in certain areas, the ones you can interact with to obtain a reward like free healing items, incense, yen, and more. When you first enter a new basement floor in the Training Hall, be sure to interact with each one you see, since you’ll find a bevy of free items down here that’ll help you have an easier time in combat.

Some items can only be interacted with when you’re on solo investigations as your devil familiar, which will be denoted as red gems instead of the usual silver. Send your summoned shikigami out to grab the loot for you!

If you missed any demons on previous story missions into the Dark Realm, you’ll often be able to find them in the Training Hall. Here, you can confine demons as usual, but you’ll also find a slew of demons you’ll need to defeat before you can fuse them. While plenty of these are bosses or mini-bosses in the main story, a few devils cannot be fused until you’ve beaten them, even if you’ve got the right fusion recipe.

Additionally, you’ve no doubt heard mention of the missing mahjong set if you’ve been talking to the folks around the Capital (or the demons around in the Dark Realm as well). The legendary set has been split into four groups of mahjong tiles, and you’ll see that Raidou unlocks new Case Files that task him with finding each piece of the missing mahjong set.

These pieces can all be found in the Training Hall in Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, but predictably, you’ll need to fight to earn the mahjong tiles, with optional Case File missions that unlock periodically throughout the game to task Raidou with reuniting the set. Prepare for some tough battles in search of them, though!
