Peak Fans Beg For Cannibalism, Developer Says Absolutely Not

Peak might be a story about a bunch of scouts desperately trying to survive after being stranded on a desert island, but its cartoon aesthetic and silly co-operative antics make it far more lighthearted than something like Yellowjackets. Still, the community is desperate for a bit of light cannibalism. After all, is it really a story about being trapped in the wilderness without snacking on your fellow man?

Unfortunately, however, developer Aggro Crab doesn’t feel the same. As reported by Insider Gaming, it ruled out cannibalism in a pretty straightforward message that reads like a supply teacher telling off an unruly classroom: “guys we can’t add cannibalism to peak”.

Or, did it? Immediately after, the developer replied with, “hmm”. Some fans have taken this to mean that it is considering cannibalism, and that the original tweet was a clever bait-and-switch. “This is going to be just like that time they added sex to Cult of the Lamb isn’t it,” @manlydawg said. “I’m not ready for this fever dream.” Me neither, manly dawg, me neither.

“But What If You DID”

Cannibalism or no, fans have some pretty fun ideas on how it could work. As fun as you can make killing and eating your friends in the wilderness out of sheer desperation, not knowing if the inhuman sacrifice will even keep you alive long enough for rescue—do they even know we’re out here? Is anyone still looking!? *ahem*, anyway, Peak.

“Cannibalism can add stamina but also a new hunger/cannibalism effect that cannot be satiated without eating another scout,” @_Kailex_ suggested. “If the cannibalism bar goes full the player goes berserk and turns into a being like the scoutmaster but with the sole purpose of eating everyone else.”

You can only play in teams of up to four players, so once you’ve eaten someone, only two people will be left on the menu. And if you all join in on the meal, then you’d all be afflicted with the hunger like that Always Sunny episode where Frank feeds Charlie and Dee roadkill and tells them it’s human meat. It’d make for an especially frantic game, turning everyone against each other as they claw up the mountain while the cravings take hold.

Or y’know, “What about adding tents”—@GIanGNGKS.
