Helldivers 2 is a game all about spreading freedom to distant planets and taking down any alien invaders who would dare violate the safety of Super Earth. Ever since launch, we’ve been given all kinds of funky ordinance and ammunition to help achieve this goal, but the most democratic of them all is the One True Flag stratagem, which allows players to plant a Super Earth flag on the battlefield.
While it’s obviously the best stratagem in the game (anyone who suggests it isn’t is a traitor), a lot of people suggested that the flag could be used in different ways, to help expand its utility, and Arrowhead seemed to agree. As part of the game’s latest patch, players can now plant the One True Flag inside of enemies, whether they’re alive or dead, so now you can jump on the back of a Bile Titan and give it a taste of true democracy.
Now, the bad news is that you may want to wait before going to grab your flags, as while Helldivers 2’s latest update has improved the One True Flag, it has also given it an unintended side effect. Shortly after the game’s update went live, Helldivers were pretty shocked to discover that planting the One True Flag seemingly causes entire lobbies to crash, booting out everyone apart from the flag planter.
Helldivers 2 One True Flag Bug Is Causing Games To Crash
This was recently showcased by a Helldivers 2 fan called Sad-Needleworker-590 on the game’s subreddit. In the video, you can see the player grab their flag and plant it directly in front of their fellow soldier, and at first, it simply looks like they’re reveling in the majesty of Super Earth’s colors. A few moments later, the poor soldier pops out of existence and all of their weaponry drops to the ground.
It’s a pretty bizarre bug, and you do wonder how it managed to slip through testing. There are also people in the subreddit claiming that this is a way for people to kick others without being the host, and reports of people deliberately bringing the flag into matches to troll people, which is a serious issue that needs to be addressed soon.
Thankfully, Arrowhead is currently trying to do something about the problem, as the studio let fans know on the official Discord channel that it’s aware of the issue and is “investigating a fix”. For now, you might want to avoid using the One True Flag at all – as traitorous as that sounds – and maybe engage in some jolly friendly fire if you see someone drop one into a game.
