Among Us 3D Will Seemingly Ban You For Swearing In Private Lobbies

Summary

  • Among Us 3D has received “Mostly Positive” reviews on Steam, but it’s facing criticism over privacy concerns.
  • Multiple users have expressed concerns about how many agreements you have to sign before playing, and some have even been banned for foul language.
  • You don’t seem to be safe in private lobbies either, as Among Us 3D’s voice recording will seemingly detect bad language and ban you even when playing with friends.

Among Us 3D finally released earlier this week, bringing the original social deduction game into the third dimension for the first time (outside of VR). It seems to be doing pretty well, having launched to Mostly Positive reviews on Steam at the time of writing, though there are a decent number of negative reviews taking aim at the game’s approach to player privacy.

According to various reviews, Among Us 3D has a very concerning number of privacy agreements to sign, which is most likely down to the game seemingly recording your voice and game metrics. It’s kind of understandable, as Among US 3D will naturally be a game that is full to the brim with young children, so moderation will need to be A LOT stricter to avoid any potential problems.

Unfortunately, the main issue appears to be that these measures also apply in private lobbies between friends. Check out the negative reviews of the game so far, and you’ll find a handful of players complaining about being banned while playing in private lobbies, despite nobody reporting each other, and people seem to think it’s the game detecting and reacting to foul language.

I Played Among Us In 2025 To Feel Something

My friends are still suspiciously good at lying.

For example, a user called Luca says that there’s “no point in playing this game with friends”, as they were all banned due to the recorded voice chat. Another user shares a similar story, explaining they “got banned in the first hour” for saying something foul, but stresses they were playing in a private lobby with friends.

Pretty much everyone with these issues has refunded the game as a result, as well as others explaining they’re not going to buy it due to the “creepy” voice recording aspect of the game. Yeah, I think I’ll stick to regular Among Us.
