Baldur’s Gate 3 is truly one of those games where anything can happen. With such a massive number of players and so many variables presented within the game, new discoveries and events will likely continue to happen many years into the future, at least until Larian releases its next game.
Almost two years since it launched, we’re still seeing regular new discoveries. Over the last few weeks alone, players have found that Hope can leave the House of Hope, uses for Mage Hand, which makes it actually worthwhile, and a gruesome detail in Orin’s Crown.
This latest situation is less of a discovery and more of an unbelievable, unseen slice of bad luck, with one player encountering something that has a one in 64 million chance.
One Player Has Just Rolled Three Critical Fail Roles In A Row With Minthara
Baldur’s Gate 3 has its frustrating moments. Every player will likely have encountered Shadowheart missing a Fire Bolt that had a 90 percent chance of success, or had a critical fail at the worst possible time, but rolling three ones in a row with advantage is basically unheard of — until now.
Initially shared on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, after just recruiting Minthara to their party, user Boldevin went on a rampage against a bunch of Zombies. Given their advantage, they had a 99.75 percent chance of landing their Main Hand Attack, but they rolled a one, so they tried again, and rolled a one again. With no success from a standard Main Hand Attack, they switched things up with a Pommel Strike, only to achieve their third critical fail in a row, something that will only happen in around one in 64 million cases.
Players were quick to point out that the game’s Karmic Dice may have affected things, but it’s still an exceptionally unfortunate turn of events.
Naturally, the thread devolved into people saying, “She’s got a case of the Shadowhearts,” in reference to the character’s terrible accuracy, but after what I’ve just seen, I promise never to moan about the character failing to land a Fire Bolt ever again.
