Beat Saber Is Cutting Support For PlayStation, Multiplayer Goes Offline Next Year

Beat Games has announced that it will no longer support its hit rhythm game Beat Saber on PlayStation going forward, with multiplayer to be axed early next year on January 21, 2026.

“As we look to the future and plan the next big leap for Beat Saber, we have made the decision to no longer release updates for PS4 and PS5 starting in June 2025,” the announcement reads. “Our passion for VR remains unwavering. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and what we can bring to Beat Saber fans who have been on this journey with us over the past 7 years.”

You can still download the game and purchase any songs or music packs that have been released up until now, but future releases on other platforms will not be available to PlayStation users. That means the last-ever track for PSVR is Lady Gaga’s Abracadabra.

“This Is Terrible News”

As you’d expect, this news isn’t going down well with players, who are convinced that this was a Meta mandate to make future Beat Saber content exclusive to its own hardware. However, it’s worth noting that Meta bought Beat Saber back in 2019, just at the start of the pandemic and before the PSVR2 was released. As others note, it’s more likely due to the reportedly low sales of PlayStation’s headset, meaning that even a top-seller like Beat Saber would struggle to expand its playerbase.

Beat Saber will also continue to receive support on Steam.

Wade through the conspiracy theories and you’ll find more meaningful anecdotes, with long-time fans mourning the end of a game that got so many of us into VR in the first place. “This is quite sad,” @steeak_ replied. “The fact I started VR itself on the PlayStation 4 because of Beat Saber is even more sadder [sic]. I do get how limitations on a platform happen, and there’s nothing to do about that. Can’t wait to see the future of Beat Saber!”

“I made a lot of friends in the BS community through PSVR and I still am thankful to still have them around today,” @1001Void posted. “I’m ashamed to see PSVR go through the dumps. I kind of understand this due to how limited the PlayStation builds are.”

“As someone who has been playing on PlayStation for almost 2 years it’s sad to see console support come to an end,” @maxekpunobi said. “Thank you guys for holding out till the very end at least.”
