Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3 Is Delayed

Cyberpunk 2077 was slated to get yet another big update this Thursday, with new features and tweaks coming to the game. However, we’ve just been told that this isn’t happening after all, as Update 2.3 needs more time in the oven.

This was just confirmed by CD Projekt Red, who say that the patch is being pushed back from its initial June 26 release date. A new date hasn’t been shared just yet, so it may be with us next month instead.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3 Is Delayed, But It’s Going To Be A Big One

In a post confirming the delay, CDPR says that it is “aiming for a scope similar to Update 2.2”. This gives us some idea of what’s in store for us, since the devs have been quite cagey about it thus far.

Update 2.2 gave us a range of new features out of nowhere. With the update, we got more character customisation options, an improved photo mode, and the ability to put the pictures we take up in our apartments. So, if Update 2.3 is even comparable, then it sounds like we’re getting some additional content and features, which is pretty wild as we approach the game’s fifth anniversary.

These updates might be part of an effort to make up for the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to get two expansions, not just Phantom Liberty. However, since CDPR has been so reluctant to let go, some fans have started to wonder if there will be another expansion after all, albeit one that’s outsourced to another studio, since the rest of the team is busy with The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk sequel.

On the Cyberpunk sequel, we know very little. It was recently suggested that we will explore two locations: Night City and a place described as “Chicago gone wrong”. Eagle-eyed fans had previously noticed in-game posters advertising travel between Night City and Chicago, coming in 2080, so there could have been a hint about the sequel’s setting in the game the entire time.
