Take nothing away from Dune: Awakening. The game is pulling in stellar numbers on Steamand is receiving excellent reviews to match, earning it a score of 81 on OpenCritic, but that’s not to say it’s without its problems. As time has marched on, the game’s PVP aspects have undergone major scrutiny, with players slamming the endgame grind, the main PVP environment, and the growing number of hackers. Funcom has vowed to fix both the Deep Desert and other PVP aspects of the game.
Over the last 24 hours, another complaint has arisen (after originally surfacing during the game’s betas), and it has players desperate for the Dune: Awakening developers to release a fix.
If you’ve not played Dune: Awakening, the game has a lot of tools. There are multiple tools for crafting, tools for harvesting resources, and tools for combat, and each one takes up a precious inventory slot. This has become a major frustration for players who are beginning their endgame journeys.
Over the last 12 hours or so, a new thread has popped up on the Dune: Awakening subreddit and has gained a lot of traction, with players sharing their distaste for the way that Funcom has laid things out.
The original poster, AnotherPersonPerhaps, said, “The amount of tools I have to carry around and swap in and out of my hot bars is really frustrating, not fun, and a bizarre design.” While they shared that they “do appreciate the flavor of having all these different devices”, they say, “the current iteration is frustrating as hell.”
The amount of tools I have to carry around and swap in and out of my hot bars is really frustrating, not fun, and a bizarre design.
Clearly, the original poster isn’t the only one feeling the pain. Almost 400 other players shared their unhappiness during the 12-hour window the thread has been live. “So true, that’s my biggest issue with the game,” said Goblin_slayer4, with KingBlackthorn1 adding, “I have very few complaints about this game, but this is one…”
“Yeah, one of the first QoLs they need to work on is multiple saved hotbars,” said 21trillionsats, adding, “[There should be] one for building/vehicle maintenance, one for resource gathering, one for combat.”
Players were quick to suggest several other fixes, including combining multiple tools into one or simply giving players a little bit more inventory space.
Whatever it is, it’s another frustration for Dune: Awakening players, and one Funcom will surely want to rectify if it intends to maintain its buzzing player base.
