Summary
- Elden Ring Nightreign players are struggling to get into matches.
- FromSoftware suggests starting the matchmaking process if this is an issue.
- This doesn’t seem to help players who are queuing as a duo.
Elden Ring Nightreign launched yesterday, but it hasn’t gone particularly smoothly. As soon as it went live, players started complaining about the matchmaking, reporting issues as they tried to find other players to join their groups of three. Due to this, it has mixed reviews on Steam, as many are struggling to access the multiplayer.
Now, as spotted by Eurogamer, FromSoftware has actually acknowledged the issues with matchmaking. In a post, FromSoft says that the issues can be fixed by simply restarting the matchmaking process, although this doesn’t seem to be doing the trick for everyone.
In the replies, some say that they’re still experiencing long wait times if they’re queuing as a duo, and therefore looking for one other player to join their team. It’s unclear why this is the case, but it’s possible that a bug is deprioritising putting a solo-queuing player with a duo, and is instead shoving more solo-queuers together.
At the very least, FromSoft is aware of these complaints. Hopefully, the studio will see that this fix isn’t working for everyone right now and is looking into a way to speed up queue times for the community as they try to dive into this unique release.
For the time being, though, you might also struggle to play alone. Obviously, this lets you skip the queue, but many are reporting that Elden Ring Nightreign simply isn’t balanced for solo runs. In fact, less than 24 hours after Nightreign launched, FromSoft promised that it would improve the game for those who want to play alone. The patch that makes these changes, on top of rolling out bug fixes, should be with us sometime next week.
