If you’re a solo player coming to the game, you’ll have to be mindful of the following biggest differences between Elden Ring and Elden Ring Nightreign, so you can hold your own in this multiplayer PVE title. These changes will prepare you for everything before you dive into Limveld.

Everything Is Super Fast-Paced

Unlike Elden Ring, everything in Elden Ring Nightreign is fast-paced. You will often have to ignore fodder enemies to bring down elite ones, and give up fighting something that’s too strong or taking too much time in favor of exploring more places of interest and gathering your strength to survive the night.

Elden Ring Nightreign doesn’t give you much time to wander around and explore, as the threat of the night is omnipresent in the game, and you’ll have to constantly check your map to make sure the blue circle is comfortably far enough from you and your allies.

You Don’t Have To Level Up Individual Stats

Leveling up in Elden Ring Nightreign is super easy and fast. You simply have to approach a Site of Grace and press the corresponding button to level up immediately. The stat distribution is different for each character, and you don’t have to think too much about which individual stat to level up.

The process has been made more streamlined due to the game’s fast-paced nature, and each level up increases multiple stats drastically. The max level is also level 15, compared to the ability to level up near-indefinitely in Elden Ring.

Each character in Elden Ring Nightreign has a different stat distribution, and levelling up increments different stats.

You Can Jump To Climb Cliffs

Elden Ring Nightreign allows you to traverse Limveld seamlessly, and you have many options to do so. Jumping has never been more fun in Elden Ring, as you can simply jump over cliffs to reach places that would be difficult to get to.

Furthermore, there are Spiritstreams all over the map, which can allow you to jump over a huge cliff immediately. Additionally, there’s no fall damage in Elden Ring Nightreign, so you can jump off from anywhere, regardless of how high it is, and you won’t take even a little bit of damage.

Dying Isn’t The End

Easily one of the biggest differences in Elden Ring Nightreign is the fact that you don’t immediately respawn at a Site of Grace after dying. Instead, you remain on the ground with a tiny purple HP bar on your head, which is divided into three parts, and your allies have to attack you with their weapon or spells to revive you.

Each time you die, it will take more hits from your allies to revive you, and there’s also a short cooldown. If the cooldown expires during the day, you will resurrect near the location of your death.

At Night, there’s no cooldown, but if all three of your allies die at the same time, the game results in a defeat, and you’ll have to start over.

Healing Flasks Automatically Replenish

Like Elden Ring, your flask will automatically recover charges when you approach a Site of Grace. But additionally, your Flask will recover charges periodically if you haven’t rested at a Site of Grace. This allows you to survive even if you’re having trouble finding a Site of Grace or are continuously battling against challenging enemies.

Furthermore, if you want to increase the total number of your Flask charges, you’ll have to visit the Temples of Marika, which can be found all over the map. There are no Golden Seeds in Elden Ring Nightreign, and you’ll have to visit these Temples if you wish to increase your total Flask Charges.

Defeating Elite Enemies Rewards You With Special Weapons And Useful Passives

Whenever you visit a point of interest in Elden Ring Nightreign, you’re bound to find a single or a few elite enemies. You can spot these elite enemies by the usual boss health bar. Defeating these elite enemies should be your top priority whenever you approach any place of interest in Limveld.

Defeating these elite enemies may grant you several options to pick from, depending on their strength. Now, these options may include weapons, consumables, or passive bonuses that will increase the strength of your character. You can only pick one of these effects, so choose wisely.

Each Character Has Unique Abilities

There are a variety of characters called the Nightfarers that you can pick from in Elden Ring Nightreign, and each of these characters has one passive ability, one skill, and one ultimate ability. The skill is usually cooldown-based, and you can repeatedly cast in battle. However, the ultimate ability requires you to charge it by dealing damage to the enemy.

You’ll have to learn about the skills of each character if you intend to pick your main in this game. Learning about the skills also helps you understand your allies and their capabilities better, so that you can be successful in your expeditions.

You Can Equip Relics To Make Yourself More Powerful

After you complete an expedition or suffer defeat in it, you receive some special Runes that can be used inside the roundtable, alongside a few different types of Relics. These relics can enhance the strength of your character at the start of any expedition.

Each character has a separate set of relics that can be equipped on them. You can set these relics on your characters by approaching the statue near the round table. Some of these relics provide character-specific buffs, which can only be utilized when that specific character has equipped these relics; otherwise, these buffs won’t work.

You can also purchase the relics from the Jar merchant inside the Roundtable Hold.

Consumables Are A Lot More Useful

In Elden Ring Nightreign, consumables are a lot more powerful. You only have four slots to put your consumables in, and most consumables also have a stock limit where you can carry either one or two of those items in a single slot, such as Boluses or Smithing Stones.

There is no crafting in Elden Ring Nightreign, so you can only find consumables by exploring and looting areas. Due to the limited stocking ability, these consumables are also a lot stronger than their Elden Ring versions and can be your lifesaver if used correctly.

There’s No Weight Limit

Easily one of the biggest differences between Elden Ring and Elden Ring Nightreign is that there’s no weight limit for the weapons or shields that you can carry. There is no armor in this game, and you’ll only have to loot and equip weapons, catalysts, staffs, or shields.

You have three slots for each hand, and you can equip up to four items on each hand. Most weapons also grant passive bonuses, and simply carrying them in your inventory will provide these passive effects to you, so you should never hesitate to pick a weapon with a good passive effect, even if you’re not going to use it in combat.
