FromSoftware Announces The Duskbloods, Exclusive To Nintendo Switch 2

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

Summary

  • FromSoftware has announced a new RPG, The Duskbloods, which will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 and launch in 2026.
  • Gameplay mechanics from Elden Ring will carry over to The Duskbloods, with an open-world design and horseback riding featured.
  • The Duskbloods marks FromSoftware’s first console-exclusive title in over a decade, possibly hinting at a shift in partnerships.

FromSoftware is releasing Elden Ring: Nightreign later this year, but we don’t know much else about the developer’s plans for the future. Before today, there were no new games on the horizon, with Elden Ring: Nightreign acting as more of a spinoff title to bridge the gap between now and its next big project.

Not many of us would have expected a new FromSoftware game to be announced during a Nintendo Direct, but that’s exactly what’s happened. Announced during the show, FromSoftware’s next big title is called The Duskbloods, a completely new RPG from the studio that has strong Bloodborne vibes. Interestingly, The Duskbloods will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, and is launching in 2026.

FromSoftware Announces The Duskbloods, And It’s Giving Bloodborne

The Duskbloods’ first trailer is pretty extensive too, giving us a good look at the game’s map, as well as some of the gameplay mechanics. For example, we can see that Elden Ring’s jumping mechanic is carrying over, as is the more open world level design, and horseback riding. We see a character literally sucking the soul out of an enemy, possibly hinting at some kind of power absorption mechanic too.

Ten Years On, Bloodborne Is Still The Best Game FromSoftware Has Ever Made

Yep, Bloodborne is better than Elden Ring.

Outside of that, we didn’t get much info, but there were some cool boss fights shown off too. With Elden Ring: Nightreign around the corner, we can probably expect The Duskbloods to launch in late 2026, though it did look pretty feature complete judging by the trailer.

In any case, it’s very interesting that this game is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, as it marks the first time in over a decade that FromSoftware has worked on a console-exclusive title. I probably don’t need to tell you that Bloodborne was the previous one, which released on PlayStation 4 back in 2015. With what is essentially a spiritual successor to Bloodborne exclusive to a Switch console, you have to wonder if the relationship between FromSoftware and Sony is all but gone.
