There are plenty of explosive ordinances that you can load yourself out with in your Hellpod before you go crashing down. Here are our favorite explosives in Helldivers 2 to bring with you the next time you start spreading democracy
Almost every airstrike or orbital strike counts as an explosive, so we’re not including those. We’ll focus on primaries, secondaries, thrown, and support weapons for this list.
8
GP-31 Grenade Pistol
The grenade pistol is a great choice against anyone, but we especially love this secondary against bugs. This secondary shoots out a single simple fragmentation grenade to take your enemies down in bulk.
A well-aimed shot can also take out bug nests, while hitting the center of a group of scavengers will get you a quick dozen kills. The same is true for fabricators and Illuminate ships. However, its stopping power against big enemies is limited.
The Grenade Pistol only has six shots in it at max ammo. Limit your shots for enemy structures or big groups of small enemies.
7
G-123 Thermite Grenade
The thermite grenade is a must-have for larger, more threatening enemies that take a lot to bring down. One well-thrown thermite is able to kill most medium enemies, while a couple can take down even a Bile Titan.

Helldivers 2: How To Find And Defeat Impalers
Your thermites need a target! What better target than a sneaky Impaler?
Thermites shine best when stuck to a Hulk or Charger. It does some damage as it burns, but its main hit comes from the explosion at the end of the burn. Keep in mind that these have a delayed explosion!
Thermites aren’t as ideal for taking out structures. They also aren’t exceptional against the Illuminate. If you bring thermite grenades, consider bringing an explosive secondary or support weapon.
6
GL-21 Grenade Launcher
The grenade launcher is an excellent support weapon to round out a loadout that otherwise may lack a bit of boom. This weapon is ideal against bugs and bots, especially when it comes time to take out a nest.
Illuminates also are taken out easily by this weapon. It’s a great tool for eating through a horde of Voteless, but it’s a bit of a headache to take out flying Overseers. It also isn’t the best tool for getting down a Harvester’s shield.
The Grenade Launcher has rather limited ammo. Consider taking a Supply Pack backpack stratagem to help offset this.
5
CB-9 Explosive Crossbow
The explosive crossbow is a primary that takes some working around. It’s ideal for any situation, but it shines most against bugs where it can one-shot some enemies. It can be used to destroy structures, but it takes a great deal of accuracy and your ammo may be better spent elsewhere.

Helldivers 2: All Grenades And How To Use Them
Need to add more explosives? Here are all the grenades and how to use them.
We love the explosive crossbow with a support weapon that makes up for its low rate of fire. Consider pairing it with a Stalwart or HMG so that you still have some full-auto capabilities.
The Crossbow is one-handed! You can use a Directional or Ballistic shield with it, but it’s also great if you’re on a mission where you’ll carry something.
4
R-36 Eruptor
The Eruptor is another primary weapon that has a similar vibe to the Explosive Crossbow. This weapon may be chosen over it for a greater range. The explosion is about the same size and damage is comparable.
In trade-off, this weapon isn’t two-handed. It also has a much larger explosion radius than you expect. Because of that, we like this one for bots where you won’t have as many melee situations.
The Eruptor can destroy structures! It’s a great choice if you’re running Thermite grenades.
3
G-50 Seeker Grenade
The G-50 Seeker is a unique throwable item, aptly categorized under Special Throwable. This grenade came to us in the Servants of Freedom warbond and quickly became a popular choice.
The Seeker is a homing grenade that chases after your pinged target. You can throw one of these without needing to aim, trusting the grenade to seek out your target. That makes it a bad choice for destroying enemy spawners, but a great choice for swarms of hard-to-hit enemies.
The G-50 Seeker is great defensively. Toss a few of these to have a swarm of explosive homing grenades surrounding you like Super Earth’s most destructive armor.
2
GR-8 Recoilless Rifle
The Recoilless is often considered one of the best support weapons if not the very best. This weapon is great no matter who you take it against and can take out even the largest enemies in a few shots.
A downside is that it’s somewhat ammo-hungry. But if you’re choosing your shots well, every rocket is a kill on a high-priority target. You also can easily get more ammo on most maps, especially city maps. If you have a friend with you, they can also help you reload.
The Recoilless comes with a backpack! Don’t grab a supply pack stratagem or you’ll have to choose which to wear.
1
GP-31 Ultimatum
Coming in the Servants of Freedom update, the Ultimatum is a secondary that packs a near-nuclear level of firepower. This sidearm comes with a warhead attached, letting you point it where you want and launch an explosion roughly equivalent to a 380mm shell on command. That makes it phenomenal for taking out larger enemies like Bile Titans and Factory Striders, as well as for taking out structures for side objectives.
The trade-off for this item is extremely limited ammo. You only have two shots maximum, and while you can replenish those through resupplies and scattered ammo boxes, you’ll still want to conserve your ammo. Many players save this gun for high priority targets, but if you have a few dozen Scavengers charging you, not much beats seeing a kill streak of 30+ in one pull of the trigger.
The safety is off on the Ultimatum, so keep your distance. It’s easy to accidentally hit yourself – or your fellow Divers – if you don’t put enough distance between yourself and your target.
