Thanks to how helpful and “cute” they are, Helldivers 2 players have already committed to protecting them “at all costs”.

Helldivers 2 players were shocked by the (admittedly expected) news that Super Earth has officially been invaded by the Illuminate, bringing with them new weaponry and enemy types. It’s looking pretty dire, but thankfully, the Helldivers have backup too, coming in the form of the brave SEAF soldiers that accompany you on your missions in the heart of democracy.

While they’re not the greatest at combat, they’re loyal and eager to please, and Helldivers 2 players have become immediately enamored with them. Over on the Helldivers 2 subreddit, you’ll see quite a few posts talking about how precious the SEAF soldiers are, including one from Cad_bane_2 with a whopping 19k upvotes that says that they and their fellow Helldivers should “protect them at all cost”.

It also doesn’t help that you can actually interact with the SEAF soldiers, making it a lot easier to get attached to them. A user called Firaxyiam discovered that SEAF soldiers will actually react when a players does a Super Earth salute, sharing a video of a group of soldiers gathering around them and saluting back. You can even get these soldiers to follow you into battle if you tell them to.

Their helpful and loyal nature already has players calling them “cute” and “lil ‘uns”, as the Helldivers community at large has now taken on the protector roles of an army of middle-aged men and women. In fact, one user goes so far as threatening to kick anyone from their game that deliberately friendly fires them, which is exactly what you should do, since anyone that would do that is clearly an Illuminate double agent.

A user called SkullyTheSquid says that they will “have vengeance for each SEAF trooper lost”, while there are already loads of stories about SEAF soldiers being gunned down by the Illuminate and Helldivers flying into rage-induced frenzies over the loss of their lil guys.
