Helldivers 2 Releases Review Bomb Capes In Reference To PSN Controversy

Arrowhead has finally made good on its promise to gift all Helldivers 2 players a very, very unique cosmetic. Finally, the ‘review bomb cape’ has been released, referencing the onslaught of negative reviews that Helldivers 2 received last year.

The cape is live in the game now and is available to all players. So, don’t worry if you have no idea what the drama was all about – you can rock the cape anyway.

The Helldivers 2 Review Bomb Cape Is Real, And You Can Pick It Up Now

The review bombing was in response to a planned update, which would have made it mandatory to have a PSN account to keep playing on PC, despite this not being the case at launch. The negative reviews that the game received pushed PlayStation to abandon these plans, so that the game can be played by all just as it was before.

Since it didn’t seem like Arrowhead was all that excited about the PSN requirement either, it was announced that a special cape would be gifted to all players. As we can see, the design of the cape features a graph, which represents all of the negative reviews that Helldivers 2 received during the PSN debacle.

The release of the cape comes more than a year since fans were promised the accessory. The community was left waiting for so long that rumours swirled about the cape being cancelled – which makes sense, since it is mocking the time that Helldivers 2 was review bombed into oblivion. Ultimately, Arrowhead made it possible, and the cape should now be available to all players.

Since then, PlayStation has pushed PSN requirements onto more PC ports of the games that it publishes, making what the Helldivers 2 community accomplished here all the more impressive. However, PlayStation has toned down its approach a little, and in some cases, is opting to reward players for creating an account rather than punishing them for not having one.
