How Much Easier Is Lies Of P: Overture After The Patch

Critics and fans agree, Lies Of P: Overture is pretty dang neat. However, despite the DLC going over well with the fanbase, it hasn’t escaped all criticisms. One of the biggest bones of contention was how strangely hard regular enemies hit.

However, the cries of the fans were not in vain. NEOWIZ heard those voices crying out, questioning the wonkiness of the difficulty, and they’ve addressed it in this patch. Additionally, they’ve provided fans with another round of bug fixes, adding an extra sheen to a DLC that was already glistening. We’ll cover every change, in as much detail as possible, down below!

Unlocking The Overture DLC In New Game Plus Made Easier

For starters, one of the quality of life adjustments we received is that players going through the base version of Lies Of P a second time will no longer need to reach the section of the game where the Krat Hotel is attacked. Instead, the moment you unlock the Path of the Pilgrim Stargazer in the fifth chapter of the game, you’ll be able to access the Overture content.

For a detailed breakdown of how to access the Overture DLC in the base game, see our guide here.

While the image above is heavily edited, the life bars are accurate. Those were both taken from the screenshots after P was hit by the same attack.

While this patch delivers some bug fixes (covered in the next section), the most substantial element is the massive rebalancing that has taken place. The game has received two substantial adjustments to its difficulty.

  • Enemies have had their attack power and health adjusted during the first run of the Overture content.
  • The difficulty has been adjusted in general for New Game Plus runs.

While I didn’t have a save on hand to test the base mode changes, the reports from users appear to indicate that these changes affect all the enemies in the Overture DLC and bring their damage output more inline with the standard enemies from the base game.

How much has the difficulty been adjusted in the New Game Plus mode? Well, I ran a few experiments. Since I had footage of my run from before the patch went live, I was able to compare and contrast. I reset my stats so that they would be identical, and then matched the equipment I had on. What was the end result? Well, the enemies I had footage of fighting appear to take roughly the same number of hits to kill. However, the amount of damage that enemies were dealing was substantially lower.

The patch doesn’t appear to have halved the amount of damage caused by enemies, but the enemies were hitting far less hard. If I had to guess, I’d say enemies were dealing around 40% less damage. Needless to say, the days of fairly standard enemies two-shotting P in the Legendary Stalker mode appear to be over and done with.

It is worth noting that I had a limited amount of footage from before the patch, so I was only able to compare and contrast enemies in the Archon Fleet Shipwrecks section of the game. It is quite possible that the changes aren’t simply universal, and that certain enemies were adjusted more than others.

What Bugs Did Patch 1.9 Fix?

Salao asks the player to retrieve his bottle of beer in Lies of P: Overture.

The Balance adjustments aren’t the only changes made in this patch; there were also some bug fixes. The biggest of these is likely the Old Fisherman’s quest, which, previously, would not progress for some after giving Salao his beer. So, if you were experiencing this issue, reload your game and it should work as it is supposed to.

Additionally, some users didn’t receive the Azure Dragon Crescent Glaive and Winter Festival Peaked Hat, which were both gifts given to all players during the last patch. This issue should now be resolved. So, if you didn’t receive either item, restart your game and check your inventory.

Additionally, Monad’s Rose Sword wielders will be happy to know that using your sword’s fable art will no longer launch you into the air. So, that’s nice. Additional fixes include a visual bug with the Flamberge being removed, and the Solutionist’s Amulet effect no longer being active once you unequip it. Lastly, some translation foibles, and miscellaneous, unnamed bugs have also been fixed.
