Mario Kart World came out just 32 days ago, but already, one player has racked up over seven days worth of playtime.
u/subwayeatfleshh very casually asked the community “How many hours do you have?”, attaching a screenshot of their enormous 175 hour tally. Unsurprisingly, barely anyone bothered to answer their question—they were too distracted by that ungainly figure.
“Bro that’s almost 6 hours a day every single day (on average),” u/BroeknRecrds replied. “Take a break man,” u/Key-Celery5439 added. “You need a job holy sh*t,” u/Zurosake put it plainly. “Are you 12 or just unemployed? How is this possible?” asked u/RamaMitAplenmilch.
Granted, they could be idling, leaving the game open to accumulate enough hours for some of that sweet Reddit karma, but after a quick look through their profile, I don’t think that’s the case here.
“And I Thought My 50 Hours Was Ridiculous”
u/subwayeatfleshh has been obsessed with Mario Kart World long before it was released. Two months ahead of its launch, they meticulously poured over the map to count every single possible route in the game—all 118 of them. “This has absolutely blown my mind,” they said. “I cannot wait.”
They even declared that it was time for them “to become the Mario Kart World world champion” when they got their hands on the game, something that would take rigorous practice to accomplish… or 175 hours of no-lifeing.
May not be everyone’s cup of tea but it sure is my cup of crack.
And when someone asked if they should get Mario Kart World on the game’s subreddit, they had this to say: “Since the Switch 2 came out I’ve had this constant urge to play. It’s so good. May not be everyone’s cup of tea but it sure is my cup of crack […] Even with way too many hours in, I still discovered new things”.
So, as some commenters point out, the 175 hours could be fake—it’s easy to leave a game open and accumulate an ungodly amount of playtime. Supposedly, I played 60 hours of Knights of the Old Republic in a week. I didn’t, I just forgot to turn the console off. But with such a clear passion for Mario Kart and a drive to become the world champion, maybe they really have sunk six hours a day into it. Either way, even they admit that maybe it’s time for them to “touch grass” that isn’t Moo Moo Meadows.
