Well… that’s the case with most characters, anyway. You see, Marvel Rivals does have a system of indicating how hard a character is to play. Everyone is ranked out of five stars, with five being the hardest. However, many players think this is way off, with some even admitting that their go-to heroes on the roster are actually a lot easier to play than the game says they are.
Marvel Rivals Character Difficulty Rankings Are All Over The Place
This was kicked off by Reddit user KingOfFroggiez, who highlighted that Mantis is ranked one star in terms of difficulty, but Cloak & Dagger are three stars. Now, as a dedicated Cloak & Dagger main myself, I would have to agree that’s pretty wild. Sure, you have more cooldowns to keep track of, but that also means almost always having something at your disposal. Then, there’s also the fact that both Cloak and Dagger don’t require aim, which is great.
This isn’t just a problem with the Strategists, too, as others point out other character rankings that make little sense.
“Venom has a one star rating but requires the most aim and situational awareness of all the tanks, dude ain’t one star at all,” says Gardening_Automaton.
“Why is Psylocke five star?” asks Spapoute. “She’s like two stars for me.”
Some speculate that the rankings are based on how confusing the character will be for new players, rather than how difficult they are to main in the long run. That makes Cloak & Dagger’s ranking make a little more sense, but also wouldn’t explain why Invisible Woman is four stars, since her kit is easy enough to explain, even if mastering it is the tough part.
In any case, we’ll have to wait and see if this is updated. Fans believe that Mantis’ ranking is based on how she played in the beta, so it definitely seems that we are in need of an update.
