Spider-Man Has Overtaken Wolverine As The Most-Banned Character In Marvel Rivals

Summary

  • Spider-Man has overtaken Wolverine as the most-banned character in Marvel Rivals.
  • Spider-Man’s ban rate is 33.67 percent in Season 1.5, compared to Wolverine’s 32.31 percent, mainly because he’s extremely annoying for support mains to deal with.
  • Unfortunately, he hasn’t been touched in Season 2’s balance update, so I expect he’ll keep his crown for a couple more months at least.

Marvel Rivals character bans are something I truly can’t live without these days, and I truly feel sorry for those of you in Platinum and lower that don’t have them yet. Every time I decide to hop into a game of Quick Play, I get kidnapped by Wolverine and sniped across the map by Hela, and wonder why I even left ranked to begin with. They’re great to get rid of the truly busted characters nobody likes playing against.

Which character gets banned is usually down to the meta, especially at higher levels, but Wolverine has had the highest ban rate in Marvel Rivals for quite some time, literally because of how much he makes Vanguard players want to throw their controllers across the room. However, a new contender for most annoying character has entered the ring and dethroned Wolverine as the game’s most banned character.

NetEase is feeling the pressure to keep Marvel Rivals exciting.

It’s particularly interesting because Spider-Man isn’t even considered a meta pick at the moment – he’s literally just banned because he’s extremely annoying. He can zip around picking off supports with ease – especially with the Venom team-up – yank tanks into pits, and he’s almost always on the field of battle thanks to his ridiculous mobility. He’s so annoying that many have been calling for him to be nerfed.

Sadly, that hasn’t happened, as the developers at NetEase thought that Rocket Raccoon was the character that needed the biggest nerfs. His jetpack has a longer cooldown, his healing orbs do less healing over time, and his ultimate has been completely reworked. Good luck avoiding those annoying Spider-Mans now supports, you’re going to need it.
