Marvel Rivals characters leak all the time, but we rarely get release date leaks. If the datamines are to be trusted, then there are a whole host of characters joining the roster, ranging from favourites like Professor X, to whoever the hell Paste-Pot Pete is. Only time will tell if these rumours are true.
However, judging from another Marvel Rivals leak, we might now know when Gambit and Rogue are getting in on the fun. According to a group of dataminers going by the name X0XLEAK, who have been a reliable source of information so far, Season 5 will be themed around “love and the eternal touch of romance”. Fans believe that this is when Gambit and Rogue will be added to the game since the theme suits them perfectly.

Now, there are plenty of other couples in the Marvel universe, but Gambit and Rogue are a pair who have already been datamined. Since other leaked characters, such as Ultron, Phoenix, and Emma Frost have been added in quick succession, this would imply that the X-Men couple aren’t far behind – and what better season to have them headline than one centred around romance?
If the other details from the datamine are accurate (and so far, they have been), then Gambit will be a Duelist, and Rogue will be a Strategist. We don’t know what they’ll look like in-game or who they’ll be voiced by, but assets like that do tend to be found in the files ahead of the announcement.
Of course, all of these leaks point to the pair being added as part of Season 5. Season 3 hasn’t even started yet, and is set to kick off on July 11. With seasons being shortened, Season 4 will start two months after that, and then Season 5 another two months later, if the timings remain unchanged. That gives us a new character every month, so there will be more than enough to keep us busy while we wait for Gambit and Rogue.
At the very least, Season 3 is giving us some neat cosmetics. This includes a much-requested Spider-Man skin, and some interesting-looking Venom skins – for characters other than Venom.
