Summary
- This Oblivion Remastered mod lets you roleplay as a necromancer.
- The mod gives you new spells and abilities, such as the ability to raise the dead.
- You can still join the Mage’s Guild, as you have to infiltrate it to unlock your potential.
In Oblivion Remastered, you’ll hear about the Mage’s Guild pretty quickly through NPC chatter. In fact, there’s a good chance that those who bring it up will mention how they have recently banned the practice of necromancy, causing many members to leave.
Now, I don’t think this is particularly well enforced, because no one bats an eye when I summon a skeleton, but it does mean that your ability to engage with necromancy in-game is quite limited. Thankfully, a fan has come to the rescue, creating an expansive necromancy experience.
Oblivion Remastered Mod Lets You Become A Necromancer
Dark Path of the Necromancer by Nexus Mods user ColdTyrant adds a whole lot of content. For starters, it gives you access to new abilities and spells. Naturally, one of these abilities allows you to raise the dead, resurrecting dead NPCs and creatures.
What makes this even more impressive is that the mod ties this all in with new quests. Included in this is the new faction of the Order of the Black Worm. Like any other faction, you advance through the ranks.
The mod page says that in order to reach your potential as a necromancer, you’ll have to infiltrate the Mage’s Guild and rise through the ranks there, too. So, it adds an additional layer of roleplaying, since you now have another reason to join the faction, other than legitimately wanting to be part of that community.
The mod was only shared earlier today, and has already picked up more than 200 downloads at the time of writing. It’s well worth checking out if you want to play as a more morally dubious character, and I think that my skeleton-raising mage will be diving into this new faction soon…
