Players Have Already Given Up On Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Mantyke Emblem

Summary

  • DeNA admits player retention is slipping and promises a ‘major update’ to keep players coming back.
  • Secret monthly emblems are repetitive chores, fueling player fatigue and frustration.
  • Mantyke emblem needs a Crown Rare with 0.040–0.160 odds (≈1 in 625–2,500), making it nearly unattainable.

Earlier this month, DeNA admitted audience retention in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket wasn’t where the company wanted it to be, with player numbers declining. It promised a “major update” for later this year, to ensure players had a reason to come back day after day.

One of the main reasons for the waning player count is fatigue. Players have long been bored with the same repetitive events and lack of meaningful content, and the monthly secret emblems are no different.

With every new expansion, DeNA includes a secret collection challenge for players to complete, with an emblem as a reward. While they are occasionally simple, more often than not, they’re a bit of a chore, and this latest definitely falls into the latter category, with some players outright giving up on getting it just 24 hours after the latest expansion, Secluded Springs, was released.

The Mantyke Emblem Is Going To Be A Nightmare For Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Players

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket players are no strangers to tricky secret emblems. Up to this point, the Alolan Dugtrio emblem was probably the hardest to achieve, with players required to snag three of the same rainbow-bordered cards. This Wishiwashi one wasn’t much easier, and neither were many that came before it, but this Mantyke one takes the cake.

First spotted on Reddit, the Mantyke secret emblem is going to be earned by very few players. While four of the cards, the Azurill one-star card, and the Azurill, Igglybuff, and Mantyke three-diamond cards should all come with time, each found in the special sixth slot in packs, the fifth card is nigh on impossible.

Players will need to find the Mantyke Crown Rare in their packs. The odds of pulling it range from 0.040 to 0.160. This means, at best, you have a one in 625 chance of finding one, and at worst, a one in 2,500 chance.

Naturally, the task hasn’t gone down well with TCG Pocket players. Mrmoosestuff eloquently said, “That’s kinda f***ed”. Crystalyne123 added, “Nah, I’ll pass this one.”

While some players have great RNG luck, most don’t. I myself have managed a single Crown Rare card from 1,489 packs opened. I fear I may never get this emblem.
