It is ridiculously easy to buy too many games on Steam. The sales make so many titles incredibly cheap, and before you know it, you’ve spent a ton on games you’ll probably never get around to playing. But at the very least, those sales are spaced out, so we don’t know the true impact that they’re having on our wallets.
Well, what if you wanted to find out? In case you weren’t aware, Valve’s platform actually does have a hidden feature that tells you how much you’ve spent on the platform for the entire time that you’ve had that account. Because who doesn’t want to see how much money they’ve forked over for video games in their lifetime?
Here’s How To Check How Much Money You’ve Spent On Steam
If you really want to know, that is
As reported by PC Gamer, Redditors have been sharing this old trick around once again. If you want to see it for yourself, follow these tabs when you have Steam booted up: Help > Steam support > My account > Data related to your Steam account > External funds used.
You will have to input your password again or scan a QR code on mobile. Just a heads up, because this caught me out.
Users on Reddit are sharing their totals, and there are certainly plenty of big spenders. One has spent more than $26,000 throughout their time on Steam, whereas another says that their total is more than $40,000. Judging from the results both on Reddit and here at TheGamer, most seem to be in the thousands, and under $10,000. I am the outlier in only spending around $130 – console gamer, sorry. And GOG whenever possible…
So there we go, you now know how to keep track of your Steam spending if you ever want to upset yourself. Perhaps you can use it to put you off a spending spree when the next sale is on?
