Ubisoft Delays Several Of Its “Biggest Productions” To 2026 And 2027

Summary

  • Ubisoft has decided to delay some of its “biggest productions” until 2026 and 2027, as the studio pointed to the “really strong quality” of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
  • Impacted games weren’t specified, but it was mentioned that the delays would affect Ubisoft’s “largest brands”, suggesting Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.

Ubisoft has been having a pretty rough time over the past couple of years, releasing back-to-back commercial failures like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws. Thankfully, it’s managed to turn the corner a little bit due to the positive reception of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and it appears as though Ubisoft may have taken away some important lessons from its recent turn of fortunes.

In a recent investor call, which was listened to by Eurogamer, Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot revealed that a decision has been made to delay some of the studio’s “biggest productions” into 2026 and 2027 in order to give them the best chance to shine. Guillemot goes on to explain that the “really strong quality” of Assassin’s Creed Shadows following its delay was a big factor in the decision-making.

“After a review of our pipeline, we have decided to provide additional development time to some of our biggest productions in order to create the best conditions for success,” said Guillemot. “As a consequence, FY2026-27 and FY2027-28 will see significant content coming from our largest brands.”

Guillemot doesn’t mention which games will be impacted by these delays, but the phrase “largest brands” suggests the likes of Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, The Division, Rainbow Six, and Ghost Recon may be involved. We also know there are other big titles coming from Ubisoft, such as the Splinter Cell remake and the perpetually delayed Beyond Good & Evil 2.

We know that Ubisoft has a lot of Assassin’s Creed games in development, so it wouldn’t be too surprising for Assassin’s Creed Hexe or the long-rumored Blag Flag remake to be pushed back a bit more, while a turn-based Rainbow Six game is also reportedly in development. A lot is up in the air at the moment, but it does sound like the rest of 2025 will be a little quiet for Ubisoft.
