Wuthering Waves has just announced their anniversary events and freebies for the Version 2.3 update.
As such, for free-to-play players, it will be confusing about whom to pull, since one of them is a DPS and the other one is a Support, and both fill a niche in their own categories. If you’re confused between Zani and Ciaccona, here’s a guide that will cover all the necessary details.
All the information provided here is based on what was shown in the Wuthering Waves version 2.3 livestream. No leaked information has been used to describe or analyse the characters.
Why You Should Pull For Zani
Zani is a Spectro Gauntlet unit in the game who can deal massive amounts of damage through the Spectro Frazzle mechanic. Zani is quite unique in the sense that, despite being Spectro, she doesn’t function like Jinhsi, where the latter is more focused towards dealing massive nuke damage upfront.
Rather, Zani will be focused towards dealing damage over time through Spectro Frazzle, which will bring a new gameplay to the mix alongside Phoebe, who also works under the same system.
She also has an amazing visual design, where her attire changes whenever she activates her ultimate ability while destroying her enemies with explosive moves that give her a lot of appeal.
Zani’s Unique Traits And Skills
Zani is a Gauntlet character, but during combat, she transforms her weapon into a shield that can be used to parry and counter enemy attacks. This builds Energy for her, which in turn converts her weapon into a Greatsword that allows her to go on the offensive and deal massive damage to her enemies.
When she triggers her Resonance Liberation, Zani enters Inferno state, where she uses swift and sharp attacks to cut down her enemies with massive force. She also has an ability where Zani can absorb all Spectro Frazzle stacks, which in turn can be used as a special Energy during her Inferno state and deal extra damage to enemies.
It’s important to understand that even though Zani looks like a very powerful unit, she will need Phoebe in the team to optimally trigger the Spectro Frazzle system.
This is not a choice, but rather a necessity, if you want to play optimally, since the only other character apart from Phoebe who can use Spectro Frazzle is the Spectro Rover, but the latter’s damage is quite low, which will make endgame content difficult to clear.
Based on the information from the livestream, Zani seems to rely on parrying enemy attacks.
It’s difficult to say how efficiently it will work, but sometimes parrying can be difficult, especially if the enemies are being passive. Taoqi is also a parry-based unit, and it’s this mechanic that makes it difficult to use her in endgame content.
If you are looking to pull for Zani, it is recommended you also get Phoebe from one of the anniversary banners, so that you have an optimal team to run.
Why You Should Pull For Ciaccona
Ciaccona is an Aero Pistol unit in the game, which primarily functions as a support unit. She uses her songs to deal damage to enemies while also buffing her allies in multiple ways, thereby increasing the overall DPS of the team.
She can provide Aero DMG Bonus, Aero Erosion Amplification, and also deal Aero Erosion and Frazzle damage to enemies. In short, she is a complete unit and a must-have if you are looking to pull for the meta.
Ciaccona Unique Traits And Skills
Ciaccona can play multiple instruments, all of which help to build her Forte Gauge. Once the Forte Gauge is filled, she can use her Heavy Attack to create a vortex that pulls enemies within, thereby providing crowd control for the party.
She can also summon clones of herself on the battlefield, which can provide buffs to allies while also confusing enemies. When she triggers her Resonance Liberation, Ciaccona and her clones start a performance on the battlefield.
Currently, both Aero Rover and Jiyan benefit from Ciaccona due to the Aero Erosion and Aero DMG buffs. The Aero Erosion buff is catered towards Aero Rover, while Jiyan will benefit more from the Aero DMG amplification.
This is quite good, considering Jiyan was the first limited 5-star to be released in the game, and he is finally getting a proper Aero support who can boost his already impressive damage even further.
This performance grants the entire team Aero DMG Bonus. Additionally, this Resonance Liberation also releases an energy field that can apply Aero Erosion and Spectro Frazzle on enemies. Finally, when she triggers her Outro Skill, the entire party gets Aero Erosion DMG amplification. When you switch her out to the next character, her performance is continued by her clones.
In short, she looks like the ultimate support, and considering how many buffs she provides, there is no doubt that Ciaccona will be a valuable unit for several characters that will be released in the future.
Pull For The Unit You Like
Both Zani and Ciaccona look exceptional, even though the latter will offer more value than the former. Zani has amazing design but will need a second 5-star unit to be valuable. However, Ciaccona can pretty much work with a free-to-play unit in Aero Rover.
However, if you are someone who doesn’t like either of them, going for whom you like is way more valuable, since you will have fun even if those characters fall out of the meta.
